Weight Inclusive Counseling

Facilitating self-compassion and acceptance for all people & bodies.

Weight Inclusive Counseling

Weight Inclusive Counseling is non-judgemental counseling for people of all body sizes that emphasizes overall health before weight.

By initially taking the emphasis off of weight and instead focusing on improving your relationship with food and your body new thoughts and behaviors are created from a place of self-compassion instead of shame. This leads to deeper healing and the freedom to define your own definition of health.

Your struggle with your body starts in your head.

You know your struggle with your body or weight is rooted in your thoughts so why in the world do we turn to the same restrictive dieting or chaotic exercise behaviors to try and fix it? This doesn’t work so let’s try something new.

Therapy for food & body issues…

Whether your struggle with your body or food has gone on for many years or 1 year it can feel both helpless and hopeless. Maybe you feel stuck and burnt out on trying to “lose weight” only to “fail” again. You are not alone and I get it. Food, eating, and body image a three of the most pervasive and difficult stressors many humans struggle with throughout their entire life.

Our toxic diet culture makes it incredibly difficult to figure out what is actual health vs. a fad. This cycle creates disordered eating patterns that can intensively interfere with our day-to-day life and extremely negative thoughts about food and our bodies.

Therapy may be the missing piece to the puzzle for you. In therapy together we can look at your entire health/food/body history including the messages from your family of origin as well as your dieting/weight loss history then move on and heal from what has been unhelpful and create your own pillars of physical and mental wellbeing.
